Our Charities

I am pleased to seek your support for the four charities that I have chosen during my mayoral year. The first two represent the emergency response services. The second two support people at the end of their life and young people in care at the start of their independent life.

Winchester Hospice

Providing specialist palliative care at the Winchester Hospice and at home. Helping our patients to live as well as possible. Winchester Hospice will support patients with life limiting illnesses, and their families, through a number of palliative and end of life care services delivered by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Opening 2019-20.

Winchester First Responders

The Community First Responders in your community are ordinary people trained to give life saving help to their neighbours while an ambulance is on its way. We carry oxygen and a defibrillator as well as other medical equipment and pain relief. We can be with a patient very quickly – providing emergency care in the critical time before the ambulance arrives.

The Children's Society

We are a national charity that works with the country’s most vulnerable children and young people. We listen. We support. We act. There are no simple answers so we work with others to tackle complex problems. Only together can we make a difference to the lives of children now and in the future. That’s why we campaign, to tackle injustice and protect children from harm. The local branch of this charity is based in Winchester district. Foundation Trust.

The Fire Fighters Charity

We understand the mental, physical and social burdens that can come from being a past or present member of the UK’s dedicated fire services community. So we rescue the rescuers and help them to recover their lives when they need it most. We offer specialist lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives.
