Mayor of Winchester's Charities 2017-18

Dear Fellow Residents of Winchester and District,

Cllr David McleanIt is with great pleasure and a huge sense of responsibility that I take on the role of Mayor of Winchester for 2017/18 .

It is a great honour to become the 818th Mayor of the City and to represent Winchester this year. I hope to meet many of you in my year of office as I travel around the District on official engagements and whilst fundraising for this year’s Mayor’s Charities.

I am 65 years old, married to Diane, Father to two great kids and Grandfather to two more. I am hugely proud of my kids, their achievements and the way they move through life. My family has benefited from growing up in Bishops Waltham. What a great place to live.

I have worked pretty much all my life, only broken by a couple of medical issues. Latterly I have worked in the renewables industry, specifically solar, before this as a salesman for a major used car operation; yes used cars! I ran my own businesses for a number of years, working with major oil companies. Great fun but occasionally stressful.

I have worked as a fundraiser for a number of charities, the Air Ambulances of Hampshire and Surrey, the Red and White appeal at Southampton General Hospital.

I have been semi-retired for a few years, starting to enjoy the fruits of my labours, and allowing me to devote more time to my duties as a Councillor.

I look forward to serving Winchester District as its 818th Mayor, and look forward to meeting as many of you as possible.

Very Best Wishes

Cllr David Mclean
